Dan Woodard is a partner with Phillips & Paolicelli, LLP who concentrates in litigating medical malpractice, infant lead paint poisoning, toxic exposure and other complex personal injury cases in New York and New Jersey as well as other States around the country. Dan has a diverse background and experience in successfully litigating numerous types of complex legal actions, including representing individuals injured by chemical explosions, dangerous premises, children exposed in utero to harmful chemicals causing birth defects and those injured by defective products.
A trial lawyer at heart, Dan has attained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients, many of whom are young children, catastrophically injured as a result of receiving negligent medical care or being exposed to toxic substances and chemicals. Dan has also successfully represented lead poisoned children, construction workers injured on the job by dangerous conditions and dangerous products and young children born with birth defects.
For the last 4 years, from 2011 to 2014, Dan has been selected by Super Lawyers® as a “Rising Star” in the area of product liability representing injured persons in personal injury actions. Only 2.5% of New York attorneys are chosen for this honor.
In 2008, Dan obtained one of the Top Ten Highest Jury Verdicts in the State of New York, a list compiled by the New York Law Journal, for the $8.5 million verdict in Matias v. WDJ Realty et al., Supreme Court, Bronx Country Index No.: 14793/04 (#10). The same verdict was recognized by the publication as No. 1 lead paint poisoning verdict in New York State in 2008. Dan also had the fourth highest lead paint poisoning verdict in New York State in 2008, for his verdict in Newton v. City of New York, Supreme Court, Bronx Country 26888/00 which was in the amount of over $2.4 million.
Dan teamed up with Founding Partner Diane Paolicelli to obtain the highest jury verdict in New York State in 2011 on a case involving a doctor or hospital’s failure to diagnose cancer in the case Luna v. Spadafora, et al., Supreme Court, Suffolk Country, as determined by the New York Law Journal, published in New York Magazine.
In 2012 and 2013, Dan obtained two 7-figure settlements in cases involving the negligent delivery of a child resulting in permanent nerve damage to her arm Myrie v. NYCHHC ($1.2 million) and the wrongful death of an elderly man at a major metropolitan medical center due to negligent medical treatment (confidential settlement). Dan was also instrumental in obtaining a confidential settlement for a significant sum in a birth defect lawsuit against a pharmaceutical company for injuries sustained by a child in utero.
2014 has seen more successful jury verdicts, including a $1.1 million settlement for a woman severely injured in an Atlantic City, NJ, casino and a significant settlement for a young child left with a permanent scar on her foot due to an intravenous infiltration burn she sustained at a Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Also, Dan authored an article regarding expert economic testimony in cases involving brain injuries to infants and young children published in the New Jersey Law Journal.
Dan is licensed to practice law in New York State and New Jersey. In addition, he is licensed to appear before the Federal Courts in both New York and New Jersey. Dan graduated cum laude from Binghamton University in 1996 with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in History and Political Science and graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1999.

Dan lives with his wife and 3 children in Mountainside, New Jersey, after being born and raised in Oceanside, New York.
